Preparing the next generation to stand for God and his Word in a post-Christian worldGCBI North is an 8-month discipleship program designed to give young adults a solid understanding of God’s Word and to prepare them for living out their faith in a culture that is increasingly hostile to Christian faith. Many of our students go on to serve in the local church or follow a calling into ministry.
More than a Bible school
During the 8-month course, students will:
- Study the Bible cover to cover
- Create a personal study Bible through academics
- Learn how to contextualize their faith in a post-Christian culture
- Engage in deeper discussions on topics like worldview, evolution, church history, totalitarianism, media, free speech, the (new) sexual revolution, world religions and Progressive Christianity
- Become a vital part of the local church by serving in their area of giftedness
- Live in real community with other believers
Beyond delivering a Bible college calibre education, GCBI North is committed to helping young people become passionate followers of Jesus Christ – young people who will impact our world with his gospel.
The GCBI North Story
The Great Commission Bible Institute was started in 2005 in Florida by a team of pastors, Bible teachers, and missionaries for the purpose of training young people in God’s Word, that they may be “thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:17).
In 2018, Renew Church of the Greater Toronto Area forged a partnership with GCBI to form GCBI North. GCBI North is based on the same video curriculum as GCBI (taught by Dr. Randy Smith) but has adapted its program to also address the challenges of living out one’s faith in a multicultural, secular, pluralistic culture such as we experience in Toronto.
GCBI North is ideally suited to students who want to strengthen their faith and knowledge of God’s Word before moving onto other educational or career aspirations. It is the perfect gap year experience!

The 2024-2025 Bible School Year

Move-in is from Tuesday, August 20 to Thursday, August 22 followed by orientation on Friday, August 23 and the Bible Experience beginning Monday, August 26. The GCBI North course curriculum starts on Tuesday, September 9, concluding with the students’ graduation ceremony held on Sunday, May 4, 2025.
